Obituary of Katalin Melczer
Katalin Melczer died on October 2, 2016 at age 90 at home in Millstone Township, New Jersey, surrounded by family. Born September 30,1926 in Hungary, she immigrated to the United States in 1949 and lived in Woodbridge, New Jersey, for 60 years.
While in Woodbridge, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church and a member of the Rosary Society. For the last 7 years, she was a communicant of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Millstone.
She is survived by three daughters, Caroline (Mark) Weislow, Irene (Harinder) Jalli, and Kathryn (Gabor) Szep; grandchildren, Alexander and Cecilia Weislow, Sonia Jalli, Erica Jalli Doran, and Kristina Driver; and two sons, Zoltan and Joseph.
Katalin is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Melczer, her parents, Imre and Karolina Sipos, sister, Maria Ignacz, brother, Ferenc Sipos, and two stepbrothers, Jozsef and Imre Sipos.
Katalin was an avid gardener, cook, baker, and consummate grandma or “Nagymama” to all who knew her. She was a kind, gentle soul. Children brought a twinkle to her blue eyes and a smile that lit up the world. She met her goals of celebrating the graduations of her grandchildren and the births of her great-grandchildren within the past few years, and her family cherishes those moments with her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 91 Stillhouse Rd, Millstone Township, NJ. Cremation will be followed by interment in Clover Leaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge, NJ.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Seasons Hospice for their support in her final days.
Katalin enjoyed each moment with her family, and anyone who knew her felt her love and grace. In remembrance of her, we ask that you call, visit, or pray for a parent or grandparent. She would have liked that.
Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
