Obituary of Charlotte Louise Roy-Guido

Charlotte Louise Roy-Guido passed away September 21, 2016 at the age of 72. Born Charlotte Roy on January 24, 1944 in Bell Gardens California, Charlotte's family moved through communities in California, New York, and Illinois before settling in Wilton, Connecticut. Charlotte attended Wilton High School and graduated from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. After marrying Nicholas M. Guido of New York City in 1972, she became a long time resident of Freehold, New Jersey. Charlotte is survived by her husband Nicholas, three daughters; Elizabeth and her husband Patrick Healy, Alexandra and Juliana, two sisters; Emily Cooper, Janice Roy, brother William Roy, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind the Ting Family, the Baquero Prada Boshell Family, and the Williams-McCullough Family. A forty-year member of St Peter’s Episcopal Church, Charlotte faithfully served her church family. Most recently she acted as manager for the church thrift shop, raising funds for the church and supporting the greater community. She was a long standing active member of the church's Kings Peal adult hand bell choir, though she thankfully left the singing to the professionals. Charlotte was elected People's Warden by the congregation and was tasked with representing them at meetings of the Vestry. Hospitality and Service were the pillars of Charlotte's church life. She thrived in the role of welcoming new members to the church community and often recruited them to service. She served her congregation as a lay Eucharistic minister, chalice administrator, and lector, as well as representing the Saint Peter’s community as a delegate to the Diocesan Convention for many years. Charlotte was also a member of the Church Women of St Peter’s, and attempted, on more than one occasion, to buy out the church’s Christmas Bazaar. Charlotte was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Monmouth County, belonged to the American Association of University Women, and volunteered her time as a Bookmate in the Bordentown Regional School System. Charlotte enjoyed playing bridge, engaging in discussions with her Book Club, and celebrating her many friendships with humor and joy. Charlotte lived her life by the motto: Dull Women Have Immaculate Homes. In this last year of her life, Charlotte battled both leukemia and endometrial cancer with the support of the great network of friends and family she gathered together throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and acceptance that will continue through families and generations. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Burial Office and Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Throckmorton Street, Freehold on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. For those who wish, donations may be made to Saint Peter’s Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
