Obituary of Mary E. Walker

Mary E. Walker, 59, of Freehold died Friday, June 30, 2006 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Walker was born in Franklinton, N.C. and had lived in Howell Township before moving to Freehold 29 years ago. She was a human services technician at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital, Trenton before her retirement in 2000. She began her career at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, Marlboro Township in 1965 where she was employed until the hospital’s closing. Mrs. Walker had attended Brookdale Community College, Lincroft and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her parents, Otis Clax, Sr. and Pearl Amos Clax; a brother, Otis Clax, Jr., and a sister, Margurita Rodwell. Surviving are her husband, Robert Walker; three daughters, Laverne Robinson and Ivy Walker, both of Freehold and Arlene Holloway, Howell Township; two brothers, Leroy Clax, Freehold and Ulysses Clax, Long Branch; and two grandchildren, Joseph Wynn and I’Tavia Walker. The viewing will be held at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold on Friday from 10:00 to noon. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday at noon followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
