Obituary of Leda M. McCann

Leda M. McCann, 71, of FreeholdTownship died Thursday, August 17, 2006 at home. Mrs. McCann was born in Richmond, Virginia and had lived in Queens, N.Y. and Bronx, N.Y. before moving to FreeholdTownship in 1962. Mrs. McCann was a business service center clerk for Foodarama, NeptuneTownship before her retirement. She was formerly employed by the FreeholdTownshipHigh School. She was a graduate of the CazenoviaCollegeNursingSchool, Cazenovia, N.Y. She was the widow of Edward B. McCann who died in 1996. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Hazel Garnett. Surviving are two sons, James C. McCann, Cortland, Ohio and Brian E. McCann, HowellTownship; two daughters, Karen L. Hugue, Phoenicia, N.Y. and Patricia L. McCann, Eatontown; five grandchildren, Lauren, Anne, Erin, Sidney, and Shelby; and two step grandchildren, Alexandra and Justin. Mrs. McCann devoted her life to her family, particularly her beloved grandchildren. Most important to her was keeping a home where all were welcome and the sanctity of family abounded. In her spare time, Mrs. McCann was an avid reader and gardener. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 A.M. followed by interment at MaplewoodCemetery, Freehold.
