Obituary of William E. Herberger
William E. Herberger, 84, of Freehold Township left this world and entered into God’s kingdom on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at home. He was born in Bronx, New York.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1971. He was a ball turret gunner during World War II. In 1951 he was assigned to 307th Group of the Strategic Air Command as assistant director of Wing personnel. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
He attended Columbia University, New York City and graduated from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
After his military service he was employed by E.J. Lavine Company as a chemical engineer. He also was employed at Quigley Company and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Old Bridge where he created many patents.
He was married to his lifelong love, the late Jean Herberger, for over 60 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Palmerio and her husband John; a son, Wayne Herberger and his wife Janice; and his grandchildren, Brad, Colette and Corinne Palmerio and Adam and Alissa Herberger.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 A.M. followed by entombment at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold.
