Obituary of Steve B. Cichon
Steve B. Cichon, 89, died Monday September 18, 2006 at CentraStateHospital, after residing for 15 years at Applewood Estates in Freehold.
After serving in the Army, Steve and his wife Irene lived in North Plainfield, where he built his own home and raised their daughter Carole and son Steven.
From head machinist to supervisor to manager at Livingston-Wilbur Corp. in Fanwood, he retired 43 years later when his wife became ill.
After his wife’s death in 1990 he moved to Applewood Estates, a retirement village in Freehold, where he left his mark as men’s club president, arranging trips for the men as well as “Woodpecker,” constructing hundreds of woodworking projects like park benches, library bookshelves, etc.
Surviving Steve are his daughter Carole and her husband Charles; son Steven and his wife Marianne. “Pop Pop” will be missed by his grandchildren Christa, Jacksonville, Florida; Carter, Bloomington, Indiana; and Carson and his wife Kathryn and daughter Kara, Atlanta, Georgia; sister in law Estelle Jankowski,, who also resides at Applewood Estates; and loved sisters, brother, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Arneytown on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 2:00 P.M. In memory of Steve’s generous life, contributions can be sent in his mane to Food for the Hungry at 1224 E. Washington Street, Phoenix, Az. 85034-1102. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
