Obituary of Adolph Daidone
Adolph Daidone, professionally known as Al Duffy, 100, of Freehold died Friday, December 22, 2006 at Bartley Manor Healthcare Center, Jackson Township. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on September 20, 1906. He was a resident of Freehold since 1978. Son of the late James and Jenny Daidone, he was married to the late Rose Bruno Daidone. He his survived by four children, Vincent and his wife Barbara, Theresa Kimmel and her husband Monroe, John and his wife Elna, and Louis and his wife, Teri; eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He was a nationally renowned violin virtuoso whose career spanned several decades of entertainment in radio, recording, and stage. He was awarded the Philco Radio Hall of Fame Citation for outstanding artistry. He played for the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, Bell Telephone Orchestra with such luminaries as the Dorsey Brothers, Bobby Hackett, Dinah Shore, Jimmy Durante and many others. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
