Obituary of John Kaye

John Kaye, 93, of Freehold died Friday, December 29, 2006 at Shore Rehabilitation Institute, Brick Township. Mr. Kaye was born in New York City in 1913 and moved to Monmouth County as a child when his parents took up farming in Englishtown. He became a resident of Freehold in the 1930’s where he lived the rest of his life. He developed tailoring skills as an employee of the former A.& M. Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold. For a time before World War II he worked as a union representative for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. During World War II he was employed at Mack Motors, Somerset where they produced tanks for the war effort. After World War II he went into the dry cleaning business in Freehold under the name of “The Tidy Tailor”. He was married to former Rose Lamb of Manalapan. The coupe had five sons, John and David Kaye, both of Freehold, Stephen Kaye, Amelia, Florida, William Kaye, Brick Township, and James Kaye, Hollywood, California. He also leaves nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of private arrangements.
