Obituary of Brother J. Stephen Sullivan

Brother J. Stephen Sullivan, F.S.C., 86, of Lincroft died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft. Brother Stephen was born in Boston, Massachusetts and had received the Holy Habit of the Christian Brothers on September 7, 1938. Brother Stephen received a Master of Art Degree from both Manhattan College, New York City and Boston College; and Doctorate Degrees from Catholic University, Washington, D.C. and La Salle College, Philadelphia, Penn. Brother Stephen was a former academic vice president and was the 17th President of Manhattan College, Bronx, N.Y. He teaching assignments included St. Peter’s Junior High School and St. Peter’s High School, both of Staten Island, N.Y., St. Mary’s School, Waltham, Mass., and De La Salle College, Washington, D.C. He had been in residence at Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft and De La Salle Hall. He was a member of the Catholic Theological Society and the Society of Catholic College Teachers of Sacred Doctrine A viewing will be held at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft on Friday from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and at the Rotunda in Memorial Hall at Manhattan College, Bronx, N.Y. on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers at Manhattan College on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
