Obituary of Joseph Vincent Viola

Joseph Vincent Viola, Sr., 79 of Winthrop, Maine, died Monday, January 22, 2007 at Maine General Medical Center, Augusta, Maine. Born in Palisades Park, he lived in Manalapan Township prior to moving to Winthrop, Maine 16 years ago. Mr. Viola was one of the five original toll collectors for the NJ Turnpike Authority, Woodbridge for 40 years, retiring 17 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War Two. He also taught archery at the Monmouth Fishing and Game Club, Monmouth, Maine. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Hills Viola, in 1989. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph V. Jr. and Patricia Viola, Winthrop, Maine; a grandson, Vincent Viola, Winthrop, Maine; a brother, Ralph Viola, Hazlet; two sisters, Millie Pfieffer, Beverly Hills, Florida, and Alba Davidson, Aurora, Colorado; and a grandson, Corey Viola. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, January 25, 2007, 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Friday at Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
