Obituary of Helen Chomko Daly
Helen Chomko Daly, 87, of Verplanck, N.Y. died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Hudson Valley Medical Center, Peekskill, N.Y. She was born in Bayonne and had resided in Englishtown before moving to New York State. Mrs. Daly served in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps for three years during World War II. She served during the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. She was a graduate of the Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Long Branch. Following her service during World War II, she was a registered nurse at the New Franklin Delano Roosevelt Veterans Home, Montrose, N.Y. Mrs. Daly was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Englishtown. She was the widow of Edward Daly who died in 1976. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Michael, Samuel, John, and Harry Chomko and Ann Burdge. Surviving are a daughter, Nora Daly and a brother, Joseph Chomko. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Englishtown on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
