Obituary of Minnie Conover Hobbely
Minnie Conover Hobbely, 78, of Freehold departed this life on Sunday, February 11th 2007 at the Bartley Health Care Center, Jackson Township. She was born on October 14th 1928 in the Millhurst section of Manalapan Township. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Ruth Ann Conover. A lifelong resident of Manalapan Township she was known throughout the Freehold community. Minnie attended grade school in Millhurst and attended Freehold High School. She joined the St James A.M.E. Church in the Woodsville section of Manalapan Township and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included fishing, bingo, swimming and she loved to have family gatherings. As the matriarch of the family, Minnie was always there for those in need. She helped to rear several of her younger siblings, nieces and nephews. Family and friends knew her door was always open. If you needed a place to stay and a hot plate of food you were always welcomed. And who can forget the way “Aunt Minnie” prepared her special fried fish. She was employed by and retired from the Solomon Box Company, Matawan. Minnie was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Hobbely, in 1994 Fond memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of her family. She leaves behind her sons, William Robinson, Pennsylvania, and George F. (Susan) Robinson, Minneapolis, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Derrick, Douglas, Christopher, Brandon, Meghan and Katie; four great grandchildren, Colin, Dayton, Madison, and Imon; dear sister Dorothy Conover, Elizabeth; three brothers: Donald Conover, Indianapolis, Indiana, Joseph Conover, Asbury Park, and David (Rose) Conover, Lakewood, and brother-in-law, Ralph Wilson, Asbury Park, sister-in-laws, Sylvia Mitchell and Arcia Hobdy, both of Chicago, Illinois and Otharene Conover of Panama City, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
