Obituary of Alfred Ranken

Alfred Ranken, 82, of Cream Ridge, Plumstead Township died Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Mr. Ranken was born in Pennsauken. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Ranken was a truck driver for Baker’s Merchandise, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before his retirement. He was a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Tabernacle; a former member of the Mount Laurel Fire Department and First Aid Squad; and served as Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2445, Maple Shade from 1956 to 1957. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Amelia Mease Ranken; a stepson, Daniel Duffy; two stepdaughters, Kathryn Lithgow and Dorothy Dailey; a brother, William Ranken; two sisters, Ann Scheman and Delma Allen; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 A.M. followed by interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 1 Winchester Ct., Tabernacle, NJ 08088 or Friendship Cottage, WHCA, 248 Bucksport Road, PO Box 299, Ellsworth, Maine 04605-0299 would be appreciated.
