Obituary of Joseph Donald Ruddy

Joseph Donald Ruddy, 86 of Freehold Township died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Archbald, Pennsylvania, he lived in Newark for many years prior to moving to Freehold Township 29 years ago. Mr. Ruddy was employed by the Newark Board of Education for 26 years, retiring in 1979. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War Two, serving in the Third Armored Division. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No.1672, B.P.O. Elks Post 1454, and American Legion Post 54, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4374; all of Freehold; and the Third Armored Division Association, South Bend, Indiana. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Madelyn Laggner Ruddy; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Margaret Ruddy, Rock Hill, South Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Craig Nelke, Fishers, Indiana; a sister, Mary Moyle, North Arlington; and three grandchildren, Kimberly Hahn, Keith Hahn, and Rebecca Ruddy, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday, 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold at 10:00 A.M. Entombment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Mausoleum, Freehold.
