Obituary of Kathleen Joan Smith

Kathleen Joan Smith, 64, of Whiting died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and resided in Barnegat for 24 years and in Hamilton Township before moving to Whiting two years ago. She was a licensed practical nurse before retirement. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Loftus in 1992, a brother, Donald Loftus in 1981, and her first husband, Melvin Louis Kinney in 1969. Surviving are her husband, Leonard J. Smith; two sons, Melvin Moulton and his wife Barbara and Daniel Moulton; a daughter, Kelly Oppen and her husband David; her father, Donald Loftus; four brothers, Kevin, Terry, Brendan, and Christopher; two sisters, Maureen and Tara; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Christina, Sean, and Michael; two stepsons, Daniel and Robert Smith; and two step granddaughters, Kimberly and Elizabeth. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
