Obituary of Murray Sherman
Freehold—Murray Sherman, 75 , died Monday, March 26, 2007 at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he has lived in Freehold since 1981. He worked in photography as a salesperson, custom developer and printer, and teacher; also in real estate as an appraiser before his retirement. Since then he has been active in the Master Gardeners of Monmouth County, the Orchid Society, the Open Door Food Bank, area Meals on Wheels, and Volunteers for Israel. He and his wife, Bruche, were founding members of Congregation Kol Am in Freehold, where both also taught. He loved spending time with his family, and could always be counted on to liven up any gathering with his wry sense of humor. He shared his love of music and literature with his family, and taught us all the importance of spending time together. His garden and orchids were a joy to many. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bruche; brother Irv Sherman; sister Bernice Greene, and his 3 children and their families—Craig & Vicki Sherman, Brian, Nancy & Robert; Laurie & Alan Hardy, Jeffrey and Amanda; Paul & Teri Gahn Sherman, David, Kevin and Valery. He is also survived by the wonderful memories that he has left with all those whose lives he has touched. A memorial service will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, March 29 at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, One Meridian Road, Suite 5, Eatontown, NJ 07724 (www.vitascharityfund.org); or Mazon, A Jewish Response to Hunger, 1990 S.
