Obituary of Robert Beck

Robert “Bud” Beck, of Freehold died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. Born in Butler Pennsylvania, he lived in Freehold for the past 49 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959 and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard (CVA 31). He was an electrician for ABG Electric and Freehold Electric Company, both of Freehold and Hans Krohn Refrigeration, Manalapan Township. He was a member of Local No. 400, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church and a former member of Freehold Council No. 1672, Knights of Columbus, both of Freehold. Son of the late Ralph and Edith A. Miller Beck, he was also predeceased by his brothers Albert “Ted” and Paul Beck, and a sister, Mary Beck. His most prized things in life were his wife and family. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Gail Johnson Beck; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Jr. and Kim Beck, Millstone Township; six daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Tom Graves, Wall Township, Kim and Rich Read, Manasquan, Karen and Dale Clayton, Kelly and Robbie Bailey, and Colleen and Michael Farrell, all of Freehold, and Casey and Josh DeWitt, Old Bridge; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Marilyn Beck, Jackson Township; a nephew and his wife, Timothy and Carol Beck, Jackson Township; Poppy’s grandchildren, Kristy, Katie, R.J., Kelsey, Cody, Michaela, Ashley, MacKenzie, T.J., Robert, Samantha, Lucas, Allyson, Molly, Robbie Jr., Paige, Michael Jr., Josh, Abigail, Timothy Jr., and Tyler; a great grandson, Bobby Jr.; nieces and nephew, Stephanie, Heather, Jessica, Christopher, and Jeanine; and his dogs, Sadie, Bailey, and Suzie. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 7:00-9:00 P.M. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 11:30 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
