Obituary of Evelina D. Wilbourn-Townes
Evelina D. Wilbourn-Townes, 49, of Freehold departed this life on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Evelina or Pina as she was known to family and many friends was born on August 21, 1957 in Long Branch. She was predeceased by her parents, Clint Wilbourn, Jr. and Mabel McKnight Wilbourn, three infant brothers, and her first husband, Robert Joyner, Sr. She was longtime resident of the Matawan-Aberdeen-Cliffwood area before moving to Freehold in 1982. She graduated from Matawan Regional High School in 1975 and attended Brookdale Community College for two years. She had been employed at Sunshine Biscuit, Sayreville until the plant moved out of state in 1998. She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, Matawan and Kingdom Hall, Freehold. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Leroy Townes, three sons, Clint Wilbourn, III, Robert Joyner, Jr., and Tramaine Joyner, all of Freehold; three stepdaughters, Letitia Townes, Freehold, Tonya Johnson, Newark, and Bernadette Johnson, Aberdeen; a stepson, Jerome Johnson, Aberdeen; 13 grandchildren; a great grandchild; three sisters, Viola Wilbourn, Aberdeen, Nancy Wilbourn, Freehold, and Georgetta Prince and her husband, Ivory Prince, Jr., Birmingham, Alabama; two stepsisters, Linda Michelle Jordan, Asbury Park, and Ann Agent, Florida; a stepbrother, Mark Anthony Jordan, her stepfather, Ernie Hayes, Goosecreek, S.C.; her father, Henry Agent, Keyport; her aunts, Emma Lucas, Joan Crockett, and Dorothy Summerville, all of Illinois, Mary Brown, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Catherine McCullers-Bowles, Eloise Fitzpatrick, Long Branch, and Arlene Hammond McKnight, Red Bank; her uncles, Charles McKnight and Davis Bowles, Long Branch; two great aunts, Eleanor Tyler-Smith and Caroline Phillips-Suydam, Long Branch; two best friends, Katherine Wright, Virginia; and Patricia Parker, South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The viewing will be held at the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church, 100 Atlantic Ave., Matawan on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will be held at noon with Rev. Charles Washington officiating. The interment will follow at Union Prospect Cemetery, Aberdeen. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
