Doristine Singh-Kandah, 56, a philanthropist and missionary, of Lakewood died Monday, April 30, 2007 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune Township. She was born in Scotts, Mississippi and had lived in Benoit, Mississippi before moving to Lakewood 36 years ago. Doris is fondly remembered by her loved ones. She was President and Chief Executive Officer of JESS Contractors Healthcare Services, Inc. Born to late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Adams in Mississippi and grew up in Lakewood. She graduated from Georgian Court University, Lakewood with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Science. She is survived by her former husband Ujjugar Singh-Kandah; two wonderful children, Jagjit and Shahnaz; three sisters, Connie Morris, Betty Ugwuala, and Margaret Adams; four brothers, Jimmy Adams, Billy Adams, Willie Adams, all of Mississippi, Charles Adams, North Carolina; Connie Morris, Toms River, Betty Ugwuala, Lakewood and Margaret Adams, Toms River; and three sisters-in-law, Wanda Adams, Kate Adams, and Sonia Adams; brothers-in-law, Sam Morris and Rowland Ugwuala, her stepmother, Cleo Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Adieu our beloved until we meet again to understand it better. The viewing hours will be held at the Sixth Street Baptist Church, Lakewood on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
