Obituary of Clarke Murphy
Clarke “Murph” Murphy Jr., 70, of St. Augustine, Florida, died May 8, 2007, at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine. Mr. Murphy was born and raised in Wenonah, N.J., and resided in St. Augustine Shores since 1992. He was a graduate of Lafayette College and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. His thesis entitled Comparative Pricing for Bank Commercial Loans is in the Library of Congress. Mr. Murphy served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. A banker for 30 years, he retired as Vice President of Commercial Lending from Bowery Savings. Mr. Murphy was a Realtor for the past five years and served as president and treasurer of the Conquistador Condominium Association. An avid writer, he wrote "Shore Things" for more than 10 years. Surviving are his wife, Susanne; a daughter, Cheryl S. Murphy; two sons, Jeff C. Murphy and Todd Lorenzo; a daughter-in-law, Susan Lorenzo; a sister, Jean Thompson, and a brother-in-law, George Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 11:30AM on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Old Tennent Presbyterian Church, Tennent followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in Clarke's name to the Clarke Murphy Scholarship Fund through the St. Augustine Board of Realtors, 1789 Lakeside Ave., St. Augustine, FL 32086. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of the arrangements.
