Obituary of Bernice I. DeVito

Bernice I. DeVito, 86, of Manalapan Township died Monday, May 14, 2007 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. DeVito was born in Jersey City and had resided in Manalapan Township most of her life. She was a cafeteria worker for the Manalapan-Englishtown Schools where she employed for 16 years before her retirement. She was the widow of Christopher DeVito who died in 1992. Her first husband, Edward Waake, died in 1948. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Herbert V. and Satu Waake, Howell Township; five grandchildren, Sharon Schlechtweg and her husband Ronnie, Howell Township, Edward Waake and his wife, Joanne, Freehold, Peter and Christopher Waake, Howell Township, and Ellen Hayes and her husband, Greg, North Carolina; six great grandchildren, Kristin, Casey, Kelly, Jillian, Kyle, and Amber; and a great great granddaughter, Hannah. Graveside services will be held at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent on Friday at 10:00 a.m. under the direction of the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
