Obituary of Joseph Buckalew

Joseph “Uncle Buck” Buckalew, 81, of Millstone Township died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune Township. He was born in Millstone Township and was a lifelong resident. He was employed at the Brockway Glass Company, Freehold Township for 33 years before his retirement. He was a 56 year member of the Millstone Township Fire Department. He built three fire trucks and restored a 1954 Chevrolet pickup truck which won over 60 Best-in-Show trophies. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and NASCAR fan. He was predeceased by a sister, Rebecca Buckalew. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Pat Emmons Buckalew; a brother, Arthur Buckalew, Dillwyn, Virginia; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Freehold; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. His spirit shines on in the countless people he touched with his radiant kindness and warm heart. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Emeley’s Hill Cemetery, Upper Freehold Township. Fire Department services will be held on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
