Obituary of Evelyn Maye Gatewood

Evelyn Maye Gatewood, 93, of Columbus, died Monday, June 4, 2007 at Medford Care Center, Medford. Born in Trenton, she lived in Metuchen, Old Bridge, and Waretown prior to moving to Columbus. Mrs. Gatewood was employed at the records hall of Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She was a member of the Barnegat Beach Club, Waretown. Her favorite pastime was gardening, clamming, and fishing. She enjoyed her grandchildren and being a homemaker. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter Ogden and Harriet Lynch Ogden; her husband, George Chandler Gatewood who died in 1989; a son-in-law, Raymond Dill, Jr.; and a grandson. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis C. Dill and Shirley M. and Robert A. Hill; eight grandchildren, Judy, Bobby, Eddie, Ray, Billy, Richard, Jerry, and Joe; eleven great grandchildren, Shanah, Raymond, IV, Robert, Cassie, Nick, Clarrisa, Scot, Meghan, Lora, Matthew, and Hannah; and a great great grandchild Cassidy. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Old Tennent Church, Tennent. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
