Obituary of Charles R. Coombs
Charles R. Coombs, Jr., 81 of Freehold Township died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at John L. Montgomery Care Center, Freehold Township. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Hudson County prior to moving to Freehold Township 30 years ago. Mr. Coombs was a tractor trailer driver for 42 years, retiring 20 years ago. Most recently, he was employed by Rollo Trucking, Keyport. Mr. Coombs was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War Two. He was a volunteer at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township for ten years. After that, he was a volunteer at John L. Montgomery Care Center, Freehold Township. He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Coombs. Surviving is his companion of 14 years, Betty R. Megill, Farmingdale; three sons, Steven Coombs, Ohio, Thomas Coombs and James McNair, both of Florida; a daughter, Janet Real, Putnam County, New York; a sister, Gloria Long, Howell Township; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
