Obituary of Steve Kevin Canty
Steve Kevin Canty, of Howell Township departed this life on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Franklin Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born on October 14, 1960 at Fitkin Hospital, Neptune Township. Steve was educated in the Neptune Schools and graduated from Neptune Township High School, Class of 1978 where he excelled at football. Steve received an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Chamberlayne Junior College, Boston, Massachusetts in 1980. He went on to complete one year of study at Bowie State University, Bowie, Maryland where he pursued his love of football as a member of the college team. Steve accepted Christ at an early age and Bethel A.M.E. Church, Asbury Park where he was active in the youth ministries and choir. Steve married his high school sweetheart, Tonya Markham and from this union three children were born, Kevin and Alim, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Stephaney, Asbury Park. In later years he married Tammie Accoo and enjoyed several happy years together. Steve worked in accounting and sales during his years in New Jersey; at his passing he was employed in sales with the Philadelphia Eagles Football Team and as a counselor at New Beginning, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Steve was predeceased by his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. In addition to his children he leaves to cherish fond memories his mother, Crystal Parrish and her husband, Rev. Frederick Parrish; his father, Frank Hoosendove and his wife, Lorrie, Freeport, N.Y.; three sisters, Tracey Calderon, Neptune, Rachel Hoosendove and Dawn Askew-Woodward; a brother, Mark Hoosendove, all of Freeport, N.Y.; his maternal grandmother, Fannie B. Lindsey, Neptune; four grandchildren, two aunts, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and a lifetime of friends. The viewing will be held at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold, on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will be held at noon followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
