Obituary of Marie Magruder
Marie Magruder, 89, of Manalapan Township died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Magruder was born in Beloit, Wisconsin and had resided in New York City from 1946 to 1973 when she moved to Freehold. In May, 2004 Mrs. Magruder moved to Manalapan Township. Mrs. Magruder served in the U.S. Army Air Force Nurse Corps during World War II obtaining the rank of First Lieutenant. While in the service she meet and married First Lieutenant Edward J. Magruder at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Mississippi on April 26, 1943. Mrs. Magruder was registered nurse for the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, New York City before her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold; a graduate of Michael Reese Nursing School, Chicago, Illinois, and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was predeceased by her husband in 1990. Surviving are two children, Robert M. Magruder and his wife Jane E. Magruder, Monmouth Junction and Joan M. Magruder, Suffern, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Berdugo and Shannon Magruder; and two great grandsons, Rahamim and Nehemyah Berdugo. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Sr. Mary Colette Memorial Fund, 82-31 Doncaster Place, Jamaica, NY 11432 would be appreciated.
