Obituary of Alma L. Walker
Alma L. Walker, 74, of Freehold died Monday, July 9, 2007 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Georgia to Joseph Glover and Northa M. Reynolds Glover Crooms. She was a longtime member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Freehold. She retired from Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital after 38 years of service. She was predeceased by her husband, Willie Lee Walker; her mother and father, her stepfather, Joseph “Welman” Crooms, and a younger sister, Valerie Crooms. Left to carry on Alma’s legacy are a daughter, Dawn Wilkins Pitts; her grandchildren, Chantay Pitts and Ahman Wilkins; two great grandchildren, Zamere and Zasear Butts; two brothers, Joseph Glover and Willie Crooms; six sisters, Jimmie Lewis and Geraldine Brown, both of Pennsylvania, Etta, Deborah and Sharon Crooms, all of Freehold; and Antoinette “Toni” Crooms, Asbury Park; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, Freehold on Monday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. The viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
