Obituary of Doris I. Allerton

Doris I. Allerton, 79, of Freehold Township died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Allerton was born in Newark and had resided in Freehold Township for over 55 years. Mrs. Allerton was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold, a former member of the Townley Presbyterian Church, Union, and a former Sunday School teacher at both churches. She was active with the Manalapan Township Senior Citizen Center and the Freehold Township Senior Center. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, James B. Allerton; a daughter, Kathy Croft, Wheaton, Maryland; two grandchildren, John and Carol Croft, both of Maryland; a sister-in-law, Anna Jane Heumiller; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Marilyn Allerton; and many nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro Township.
