Obituary of Marilyn Merkin
Marilyn Merkin, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, 76, of Monroe Township passed away, Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Cranbury Care Center, Monroe Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. she moved to Perrineville in March of 1956 with her husband and a three month old son to live on an egg farm. Over the years the farm grew to be one of the largest egg producing farms in the state. They have been members of the Perrineville Jewish Center since 1958 where Mrs. Merkin served as a board member for several years. After residing in Perrineville for 37 years she and her husband, Marty, moved to Clearbrook Adult Community in Monroe Township. She was a loving woman who enjoyed cooking many holiday dinners over the years. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing mah jong and cards. In addition to her husband she is survived by sons, Steven and Joel; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Norman Weistuch; four grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Merkin and Corey and Jessica Weistuch; sisters-in-law, Ronnie Seligman, wife of Marilyn’s late brother, Stanley, Ardell Laster, Audrey Grantier, and Henny Merkin; brothers-in-law, Al Merkin, Jack Laster, and John Grantier; five nephews, five nieces, 13 grand nieces and nephews; five great grand nieces and nephews, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at the Perrineville Jewish Chapel, Perrineville-Hightstown Road, Perrineville on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. followed by interment at the Perrineville Jewish Cemetery.
