Obituary of Nancy Allen Queeney
Nancy Allen Queeney, 75, of Howell Township and Port St. Lucie, Florida died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at home. Nancy was born in Freehold and had lived there most of her life until 2001 when she moved to Howell Township. She was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1949. She was predeceased by her parents, Joshua and Helen Allen and her stepfather, Cy Dalton; a daughter, Jacqueline Jane, and a son, John Queeney, III; and her brother, John T. Allen. Nancy was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, active in the St. Rose of Lima School P.T.A. and a member of Court St. Rose of Lima No. 737, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, all of Freehold. After her first career as a housewife and mother, Nancy began her second career with the Freehold Township Tax Assessor’s Office becoming the township’s tax assessor in 1976 and remained in that position until she retired in 1989. After her retirement Nancy enjoyed time with her family, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends both in Freehold and Port St. Lucie, cruising and other vacation activities. Surviving are her loving husband of 56 years, Jack; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Q. and John Driscoll, Montgomery Village, Maryland; two grandchildren, Kaitlin Michelle and Michael James Laws; nieces, Donna J. Hope, Mary Jane Jamison, Lorraine Dolamore, Sue Hope, Bonnie Petrula, Debbie Bell, Cindy DiBenedetto, Betty Lynn Sullivan, Lori O’Neill, and nephews John T. Allen Jr,. and Jeffrey Allen. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 would be appreciated.
