Obituary of Eleanor T. Schlechtweg

Eleanor T. Schlechtweg, 68, of Jackson Township died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Schlechtweg was born in Neptune Township and had resided in Freehold Township from 1960 to 1983, Manalapan Township from 1983 to 2000, and in Jackson Township for the past seven years. Mrs. Schlechtweg and her husband operated Crest Fruit Farm, Manalapan Township until their retirement in 2000. She was a 50 year member and secretary of Monmouth Grange No. 92, a member and secretary of Monmouth County Pomona Grange No. 12, and a member of the New Jersey State Grange where she held the office of Ceres. Surviving are her husband, William A. Schlechtweg, Jr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Sharon Schlechtweg, Howell Township and Robert and Kristen Schlechtweg, Jackson Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Rodney Carr, Jackson Township; two brothers, Garrett Thompson, Colts Neck Township and William Thompson, Kenbridge, Virginia; three sisters, Dorothy Matthews, Freehold, Jeannette Niehaus, Centreville, Maryland, and Elizabeth Possehl, Las Cruses, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Kristin Gruning, Kelly, Brian, and Sara Schlechtweg, Cory, Kevin, and Teresa Carr; and a great granddaughter, Hannah Gruning. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
