Obituary of Anne S. Johnson

Anne S. Johnson, 84, of Freehold Township died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at her daughter’s home in Brick Township. Mrs. Johnson was born in New Brunswick and resided in Bound Brook before moving to Freehold Township in 1939. She had spent winters in Lutz, Florida. She was employed by the 3M Company, Freehold Township. Following her retirement from 3M she was a school bus driver for the Freehold Regional High School District. Mrs. Johnson was a member and past president of American Legion Post No. 54 Auxiliary, a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1454 Auxiliary, both of Freehold; a member of Sweet Adelines Jersey Shore Chapter No. 15, a former Girl Scout leader for Monmouth Council, and a member of the 3M Bowling League at Howell Lanes. She was the widow of Edward John “Gene” Johnson who died in 1997. She was also predeceased by a son-in-law, Robert L. Bennett, Sr., a brother, Jon Sherman, and a sister, Joan Johansen. Surviving are two sons, Robert E. Johnson and his wife Gail, and Edward John Johnson, III and his wife Marie Ann, all of Howell Township; two daughters, Kathleen Susan Bennett, Freehold Township, and Debra Anne Rios and her husband Mario, Brick Township; a brother, Thomas Sherman, Florida; a sister, Nora Preller, Milltown; eight grandchildren, Jeanne Hessler, Robert J. Johnson, Jr., Robert L. Bennett, Jr., Tracey Anne DeSando, Roseanne Marie Varca, John Michael Johnson, Denise Lynn Koch, and Gian James Rios; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. A private interment will be held at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Memorial donations to the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, 18 Spring Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
