Obituary of John Albert Kolbe
John Albert Kolbe, Jr., 71, of Jackson Township died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at home. He was born in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania and during his career travelled the eastern United States before settling in Jackson Township. Mr. Kolbe, a passionate horseman, began his career as a standbred horse trainer and driver. Later he owned and operated Kolbe Horse Transportation. He was 56 year member of the U.S. Trotting Association, Columbus, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are two sons, Todd Kolbe, Flemington and Colin Kolbe, Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Cheryl Mercer, Ashland, Virginia; a brother, James A. Kolbe, Tonawanda, N.Y.; three sisters, Constance L. Martin, Richmond, Virginia, Linda L. Barnard, Rochester, N.Y. , and Sandra J. Brohman, Tonawanda, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jack and Amanda; and his companion, Marilyn Fanning, with whom he lived. Private cremation services will be held under the direction of the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
