Obituary of Robert J. Rabe
ROBERT J. RABE, 85, of Freehold Township passed away on November 16, 2007, at home after a long battle with cancer. Born in Linden-Dahlhausen, Germany, Bob moved to America when he was 6 years old. He grew up in Lakewood, NJ, and became a US citizen on April 6, 1933. He served in the Marine Air Corps, Scout Bombing Squadron 343 (Gregory’s Gorilla’s), during WWII. Afterwards he worked for the Fort Monmouth US Army Communications Command. He loved to sail and owned several sailboats through his life. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Peg McMahon Rabe, his son, Steven and wife, Liann, of Boston, MA; son, Michael and wife, Bernadine, of Toms River, NJ; daughter, Laura of Mount Holly, NJ; and grandchildren: Erin of Philadelphia, PA; Alana and Sean of Boston, MA. Final interment will take place at the Brigadier General William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a private military ceremony on Wednesday November 21, 2007. A ‘Celebration of Bob’s Life’ will be at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold at 2:00pm on Sunday November 25, 2007. NO FLOWERS PLEASE.
