Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend
An angel has been called home. Barbara Yvonne Tremblay, 84, of Freehold, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on October 4, 2015.
Barbara was born in Toronto, Canada on September 3, 1931 to George and Beatrice Bonney. She married the love of her life, Joseph Maurice Tremblay on November 6, 1955. As a young couple they moved to the United States and lived in St. Ignace, Michigan, Massena, New York and Mount Ivy, New York before putting down roots and making their home in Freehold, NJ where they raised their family and became long time residents.
Barbara was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked for many years at Springview Nursing Home and The Freehold Area Hospital before retiring in 1994. Her children and her grandchildren were Barbara’s love and joy. After retiring she devoted her heart and soul to lovingly care for her eight grandchildren each of whom filled a special place in her heart.
Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting, playing scrabble and socializing with the “Card Club Ladies”: Carol Belgard, Joan Sczymanski, Dolores Farrell, Mia Cipriano, Lynn Wagner, Dot Davis, Pam Smith, Sue Sweetman, Sharon Hartman, Fran Roessler, Ruth Brinster as well as good friends Elaine Sinowitz and Maryann Stone all of whom she loved dearly. Barbara knew her life was richer having had them as friends.
All her family she has left behind take comfort in knowing that Barbara is now reunited with her predeceased parents, daughter Rebecca, grandson Ronnie, brother Ronald, sister Marilyn and very special friend Joyce Engallena.
Barbara will forever be remembered and loved by her devoted husband Joseph, her son Ronald and his wife Christine, her son Randy and his wife Linda, her daughter Gloria and her husband Peter Bulk, her daughter Joy and her husband Craig Kowalski; her cherished grandchildren: Joseph and Nicholas Tremblay, James and Ali Bulk, Meg Sarah, Jack Kowalski; her brother Mervin Bonney and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 61 Georgia road, Freehold on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery.
