Obituary of Mae L. Allen

Mae L. Allen, 87, of Freehold died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at her son’s home in Jackson Township. Mrs. Allen was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident. Mrs. Allen was a graduate of Freehold High School. While her husband served in the military during World War II she was a mail sorter at Twin Lights, Atlantic Highlands. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Freehold. She was an avid Jets and Mets fan, loved flowers especially roses and azaleas, and was a member of the WJLK Bird Watching Society. She was the widow of Harry W. Allen who died in 2002. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William H. and Meredith Allen, Jackson Township and Wilbur and Bonnie Allen, Virginia; and four grandchildren, Daniel, Paul, Suzanne, and Michael. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Francis N. Hebert, Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, officiating. The interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
