Obituary of Shirley Annette Simms

Shirley Annette Simms, 55, of Freehold died on October 6, 2105 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Neptune Township and was raised in Freehold where she lived for most of her life. She attended the Freehold Borough Schools. She was employed as a certified nurse’s aide for 20 years at the John L. Montgomery Medical Home, Freehold. Shirley was best known for her beautiful smile and funny personality. She enjoyed going to the casinos, playing card games, going to restaurants and enjoying her family. She was predeceased by her father, John Gibson; and two brothers, Earl and James Simms. Surviving her mother, Milzonia Gibson, Freehold; her children, Celeste, Robert, Milzonia, Brandon, and Danielle Simms, all of Freehold; a brother, John Simms, Freehold, eight sisters, Rosalind Simms, Rosemary Simms, and Angela Hill, all of Freehold, Dorothy Dehaney, Neptune, Corria Allen and Bernice King, Detroit, Michigan, Christine Young, Somerset, and Lorene Boswell, Jacksonville, Florida; four brothers-in-law, Timothy Calhan, Kevin Davis, Desmond Dehaney, and Rory Hill; a Godson, Jahmar Powell, Freehold; her aunts, Annie Pearl Fenn, Keyport and Carrie Davis, Boston, Mass., two uncles James Fenn and Charlie Kenon; 22 grandchildren; two good friends in deed, Laverne Clarke and Sammy Bonner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. The interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
