Obituary of Elizabeth Colaner Higgins

Elizabeth Colaner Higgins, 71, of Freehold died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at home. She was born in Neptune Township and was a lifelong Freehold resident. Mrs. Higgins was a graduate of St. Rose of Lima School, Freehold and Cathedral High School, Trenton. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold.Mrs. Higgins was a secretary for the Office of the Public Defender, Freehold before her retirement eight years ago. Prior to that she was employed by the Phelps Dodge Company, Marlboro Township for many years. She was predeceased by her parents, Louis M., Jr. and Ruth Trickett Colaner and a stepson, John C. Higgins who died in 1986. Surviving are her husband, Robert C. Higgins; a daughter, Cathy Pomaski, Brick Township; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis M., III and Gloria Colaner, The Villages, Florida; four stepchildren, Sherrie Scott, and Glenn, Michael and Scott Higgins; two grandchildren, Christopher and Ken; and seven step grandchildren, Brittany, Connor, Timothy, Molly, Seamus, Nikkole, and Maggie. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
