Obituary of Margaret Evelyn Butler Hugus
Margaret Evelyn Butler Hugus, 90, of Freehold passed away on Friday, December 21, 2007 in Holmdel Township of natural causes. She was born in Bayville and had resided in Freehold for most of her adult life. She was a graduate of Westminster Choir College, Princeton and had served as church organist and music director for the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold for over 30 years. She also played the organ at several other churches in Freehold and was a school teacher in both the Millstone and Howell Township school systems. Margaret was a member of the American Guild of Organists, the Cecilian Club, and was a prior elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold and a member of the Unity Club of the church. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank L. Hugus, Jr. in 1977 and is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Paul and Karen of Juno Beach, Florida, Frank and Nancy of Danville, California, and Robert and Sue of Point Pleasant Beach, eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Freehold on Friday, December 28th at 10:00 AM with interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold thereafter. The viewing will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, December 27th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The family would appreciate that in lieu of flowers a donation would be made in Margaret’s name to the First Presbyterian Church, 118 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.
