Obituary of Mildred L. Dougherty
Mildred L. Dougherty, “Nana” 83, of Freehold passed away peacefully December 31, 2007. She was born September 1, 1924 in East Boston, Massachusetts. Millie also lived in Port Washington, New York and Brewer, Maine before moving to Morris Plains. She moved to Colts Neck in 1961 and then Freehold in 1974. Millie was an operator for New England Bell before starting her family. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s Court of St. Mary’s in Colts Neck for many years. She was also an avid bowler. Millie retired from Investor’s Savings Bank as a bank teller. She was a beloved mother and “Nana.” Millie enjoyed traveling and being with her grandchildren. Summer days on the Belmar boardwalk with her grandchildren brought her great pleasure. Millie is survived by her two sons; Michael, Eddington, Maine, and Daniel and his wife Peggy, Sebastian, Florida, two daughters; Debi McCarthy and her husband Bob, Howell and Donna, Freehold, as well and eight grandchildren; Sean, Andy, Allyson, Kelley, Brian, Shannon, Kait, and Christine, and four great-grandchildren; Angelica, Connor, Kelsey, and McKenzie. She is also survived by her two sisters, Marie and Margaret. Millie’s warm generous and happy spirit will be missed by many. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Chapel, Freehold on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Ave, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
