Obituary of Samuel J. Venti
Samuel J. Venti, 93, of Freehold died Saturday, January 5, 2008 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Mr. Venti was born in Vineland and had resided in Freehold for over 70 years. He was employed by the Monmouth County Library before his retirement. Prior to that he was employed at the A.& K. Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold. Mr. Venti was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold; an exempt member of Engine and Hose Company No. 1 of the Freehold Fire Department and a member of the Freehold Fire Department Exempt Firemen’s Association; a life member of B.P.O.E. No. 1454, Freehold; and a member of the Freehold Township Senior Citizens Club. While he was employed at the Karagheusian Rug Mill he was one of the early members of the Freehold First Aid Squad. His first wife, Esther McMahon Venti, died in 1979. A brother, Louis J. Venti, died in 2004. Surviving are his wife, Doris Greathouse Venti; a son, Donald Venti, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Edward Kress, Freehold; two stepchildren, Marie Kunez, Red Bank and David Greathouse, Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Lucy DiMeo, Philadelphia, Penn.; two grandchildren, Mary Alsager and her husband Eric and Judy Czeto and her husband John, with whom he lived; a great grandson, William Alsager; and two step grandchildren, Paul and James Ritter. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery , Freehold.
