Obituary of Richard W. Kniesler
Richard W. Kniesler, 73, of Freehold Township died Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. Mr. Kniesler was born in Trenton and was a lifelong resident of Freehold Township. He was a graduate of Freehold High School, Class of 1952, and served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman in Okinawa from 1952 to 1954. Mr. Kniesler was the Superintendent of Streets and Roads for the Freehold Township Department of Public Works where he was employed for 47 years before his retirement nine years ago. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine R.C. Church, Freehold Township, and a member of South Jersey Antique Tractor Pullers Association. He was predeceased by his father, Ludwig Henry Kniesler who died 1970, his mother, Josephine Kniesler who died in 1977, and a brother, L. Harry Kniesler, who died in 1992. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Dronne Kniesler; two sons, Richard W. Kniesler, Jr. and his wife Annette, Berlin and Erick W. Kniesler, Basking Ridge; three daughters, Karen L. Kniesler, Smyrna, Georgia, Sharon L. Kniesler, Dallas, Georgia, and Nancy L. Kniesler, Freehold; and three grandsons, Travis, Tyler, and Chase. Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
