Obituary of Petty Officer 2nd Class Joseph Anthony Scandariato

Petty Officer Second Class Joseph Anthony Scandariato, U.S. Navy, 25 of Middletown Township, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at home. Born in Long Branch, he lived his whole life in Middletown Township and Yokosuka, Japan, where he was stationed for the past few years. Mr. Scandariato was a 2001 graduate of St. John Vianney High School, Holmdel Township, where he played on the hockey team. He enjoyed his job in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate/engineer, and was proud of his relationship with his shipmates, whom he considered another family. Surviving are his wife, Miki Ibaraki Scandariato, a son and a daughter, R.J. and Mia Scandariato, all of Yokosuka, Japan; his parents, Joseph and Donna Catullo Scandariato; Middletown; a brother, Brian Scandariato, Middletown; his paternal grandfather, Salvatore Scandariato, Keansburg; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Takashi and Hiroko Ibaraki, Tokyo, Japan; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were all proud of his answering the call to serve his country. Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday, February 10, 2008 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
