Obituary of Josefine Esterer-Hatcher
Josefine Esterer-Hatcher, 86 of Tinton Falls died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation in Shrewsbury. Born in Hasslingkreit, Germany on May 16, 1929, she was raised in Augsburg (Bergheim), Germany. Mrs. Hatcher was affectionately known to family, friends and her community as “Oma”. In April 1955 she married Othello Hatcher in Sonthofen, Germany. For many years, “Oma” worked as a seamstress before becoming employed at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Fort Monmouth, where she was the Nursery Supervisor. Oma retired after 30 years of service. She dedicated her life and career to the betterment of children in the community. Her love for children, family and friends will be resounding for years to come.
Daughter of the late Maria Bitsche-Esterer, and Sebastian Esterer, she was also predeceased by a brother Bastel Esterer, Germany.
Surviving is her sister, Magdalena Ortler, Augsburg, Germany, a daughter Gwendalyn Maria Rogers, Tinton Falls, two sons Jermaine, Keyport and Steven Hatcher, Asbury Park, two grandsons Kaire Hatcher & David Williams, Tinton Falls and a host of nieces and nephews both in the United States and Germany.
Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, New Jersey, on Monday, October 19, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. followed by Interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, New Jersey.
