Obituary of Annmarie T. Barnes

Annmarie T. Barnes, of Howell Township, left this world peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune Township at the age of 75 to be with the love of her life, her husband Raymond Thomas Barnes. She whispered to him “Where ‘ya been?”. Born in Hillside, NJ she lived most of her life in Howell Township where she and Ray flourished raising eight children and making many lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her big brother, Bill, who provided many a summer hiatus with the Sag Harbor gang. She adored her children, Raymond Thomas Barnes, Jr., daughter, Mary Denise, daughter, Maria Lisa and her husband Patrick Toner, son Christopher and his wife Christine, son Timothy P. and his wife Cindy, son Michael M. and his wife, Maria, daughter Laurel Ann and husband Robert Lesnik and daughter, Mary Meagan. She lived for her grandchildren, Annmarie Jr., Matthew R., Sean P., Kevin M., Zachary C. Jacob E., Alexis L. Joseph C., Antonio R., Evan M., Austinelly A., Edward R., Sara L., Otis and Bubba; and a great grandchild Colin J. Our mother was our rock, role model, encourager, playmate, and proud audience. Always willing to listen but never without the trailing “stinkeye”. She was proud to survive the nuns and become a registered nurse. We admired her savvy and expertise at Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy. Even stronger and courageous, but never without her sense of humor, she faced challenges with calming grace and class. Dad whisked her across many a dance floor and despite many trials they heard the music, sang the melody, and lived a life made wonderful by those that surrounded them. She’ll dance on in Heaven in the arms of our Dad. Mama Barnes was our flower, soft like the petals but strong and lasting, unique and special. Enjoy the Manhattan and pinochle game. Safe home, you will be missed and always in our hearts Thank you Mom, Big Grandma and Sis for all your love and wisdom. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Veronica’s Church, Route 9, Howell Township on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. followed by entombment at St. Mary of the Lake Mausoleum, Lakewood.
