Obituary of Gloria Reid Lamb

Gloria Reid Lamb, of Jackson Township entered into rest on March 17, 2008 at her home supported by loving family and friends. The Good Shepherd has called home one of his sheep. The daughter of Charles E. Reid and Rose C. Albecker, Gloria was born in Manalapan on March 20, 1923 and grew up in Englishtown. On December 28, 1943 she married her grammar school sweetheart William P. Lamb. After graduating with honors in Spanish from New Jersey College for Women (Douglass College) in 1945, she worked in the export division of Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick. At age 39, following the death of her beloved husband, she began a career in education. Gloria taught Spanish at Howell High school for almost 20 years, retiring in 1984. Her interests were varied, including music, books, politics and especially conversation. She enjoyed travel and spent time with her children on both coasts. She is survived by her children Deborah J. Fadem (Barry), Lafayette, CA, Cecilia R. Lamb (Alan Wargo), Howell Township and William P. Lamb Jr. (Karen), Rancho Cucamonga CA; her brother Charles A. Reid (Joan) Manalapan Township; two granddaughters Nicole and Alyssa; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20 at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. A memorial Mass and celebration of her life will be held later this year.
