Obituary of Phyllis V. Larson
Phyllis V. Larson, 90, of Freehold died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in New York City and resided in Freehold for most of her life.
She was an administrative assistant for the Monmouth County Surrogate’s Office, Freehold where she was employed for 14 years before her retirement in 1991.
Prior to that she was a contract carpet specialist at the former A.& M. Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold and was employed in the personnel department of NL Industries, Sayreville.
Miss Larson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold where she was a member of the church choir for over 60 years, a Sunday school teacher, and Girl Scout leader; was a member of the Freehold YMCA Girls Group; and had performed with the Princeton Chorale.
She was a graduate of Freehold High School and had attended Monmouth College, West Long Branch.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Philippina Freeman; four brothers, Arthur and Kenneth Larson and Henry and Donald Freeman; and a sister, Carole Gibson.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert W. Freeman, Manalapan Township and Walter Freeman, South Carolina; two sisters, Betty Chiricio, Fishkill, N.Y. and Lillian Heffernan, Cochranton, Penn.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Cindy E. Bowman officiating followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent. Memorial donations to the First Presbyterian Church, 118 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
