Obituary of Hugh McPaul
Hugh McPaul, of Jackson Township died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at home. He was born in Dungloe, County Donegal, Ireland and had resided in Elizabeth and Manalapan Township before moving to Jackson Township. He spent the winter months in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Mr. McPaul was an operating engineer with International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 14-14B, Flushing, New York.
He was a former communicant of St. Gabriel’s R.C. Church, Marlboro Township. He was an avid golfer playing at Jensen Beach Golf Club in Florida and many courses in New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bridget Mary McPaul who died in 2006; a daughter, Pamela Marie McPaul who died in 1967; his father, Patrick McPaul; and a brother, James McPaul.
Surviving are a son, Philip McPaul, Manalapan Township; a daughter, Maura Thompson, Jackson Township; his mother, Alice McPaul, England; a brother, Patrick McPaul, Newcastle, England; two sisters and brothers –in-law, Gemma and Andy Harkin, Newcastle, England and Anne and John Connors, Dungloe, County Donegal, Ireland; a sister-in-law, Mary McPaul; and four grandchildren, Tara, Kerri, Patrick, and Bridget Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Historic Church, Route 520, Marlboro Township on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery. Memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 would be appreciated.
