Obituary of Elizabeth Rodrigues
Elizabeth Rodrigues, 85, of Colts Neck Township died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Rodrigues was born in Rahway and had resided in Colts Neck for 84 years.
She was a graduate of Red Bank High School.
Mrs. Rodrigues was employed at Republic Aviation, Farmingdale, N.Y. while her husband served in World War II. She was employed at the 3M Company, Freehold Township for ten years.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Colts Neck and a member of the Martha Mary Guild of the church, a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Colts Neck Seniors. She was the secretary/treasurer of the Central Jersey Bee Keepers Association and a member of AARP.
She was predeceased by her devoted and beloved husband of 50 years, Arthur J. Rodrigues in 1992; a granddaughter, Christine Ann Carr in 1969, her parents, Stephen and Mary Zwolinski; five sisters, Marie Ann, Francis, Christine “Teenie”, and Catherine; and two brothers, Stephen and Edward.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Ann and James Thorpe, Port Charlotte, Florida and Nancy E. and Nicholas S. Tyrpak, Freehold; two grandsons, David J. Tyrpak, Freehold and Wade James Thorpe and his wife Kristin, Litchfield, N.H., a granddaughter, Leanne E. Fabiano and her husband Mark A. , Freehold; three great grandchildren, Emily and Alex Thorpe, and Anthony P. Fabiano; a sister, Josephine Morrisey, Pennington; three sisters-in-law, Barbara G. Zwolinski, Colts Neck, Isabelle Zwolinski, New Egypt, and Ida Cruz, Garner, N.C.; cousins, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Colts Neck on Friday at 9:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
