Obituary of Henry G. Daum

Henry G. Daum, 63, of Freehold Township died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Neptune Township and had resided in Freehold for the past 38 years. A graduate of Freehold High School in 1963, he was a 4th place state wrestler at 157 pounds. Henry received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University in 1967. During that time he was named an All American Lightweight Football player. He continued his passion for wrestling while volunteering his time to the Freehold Borough Recreation Program. Henry was a licensed certified landscape architect holding New Jersey license 17. He was co-founder and president of Four Seasons Nursery and Landscape Company, Manalapan Township. He was a member of the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association. He contributed to many beautification projects in Freehold. His landscape visions live on throughout the state. He served as president of the Manalapan Cemetery Association. He was predeceased by his father, Fred W. Daum, in 2003. Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Gerri Mills Daum; three sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Meri Daum, Morganville, Michael and Robin Daum, Freehold Township, and Scott and Jennifer Daum, Jackson Township; his mother, Jane Ash Daum, Freehold Township; two brothers, Peter H. Daum, Shoreham, N.Y. and Roy K. Daum, Wall Township; two sisters, Linda Brown, Jamestown, R.I., and Carolyn Kaempffer, Freehold Township; and ten adored grandchildren, Amanda, Kyle, Gabrielle, Carly, Chloe, Julia, Josh, Lucas, Ryan, and Henry. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Open Door of Freehold, 39 Throckmorton Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
